This certification is a further tangible step in our mission to promote responsible and environmentally friendly business practices. As a member of this voluntary initiative since 2021, we have decided to extend our commitments by certifying our actions to prevent unintentional losses of plastic particles (pellets, flakes and dust) in 2023.

The international Operation Clean Sweep programme was designed in 1992 as a voluntary initiative to help companies prevent the loss of plastic pellets, flakes and dust into the environment during production and transport. This programme, supported by the plastics industry, aims to reduce litter in our oceans and natural environments.

Programme Objectives:

  • Environmental pollution prevention: Operation Clean Sweep focuses on implementing effective practices and procedures to prevent plastic waste from accidentally reaching our oceans and rivers.
  • Awareness and education: The programme promotes awareness of the importance of responsible plastics management among employees, suppliers and the wider community. At Plásticos Vanguardia we have equipped our facilities with pellet collection points, so that anyone can contribute to the prevention of these unintentional losses.
  • Industry collaboration: Operation Clean Sweep promotes collaboration between companies to establish common standards and best practices for the proper management of plastic raw materials throughout their life cycle.

Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Certification in Operation Clean Sweep reinforces our commitment to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to underwater life (SDG 14) and climate action (SDG 13), as well as to Responsible Production and Consumption (SDG12). Implementing these good practices, we contribute directly to the preservation of marine ecosystems and to the global effort to combat climate change.
